VIVALDI Contributes to CO₂ Valorisation Dialogue at the THREADING-CO₂ Symposium at ECOMONDO
The VIVALDI project was pleased to take part in the THREADING-CO₂ Symposium, held during the ECOMONDO Green Technology Expo (4-7 November 2025), one of Europe’s leading fairs for ecological transition and industrial sustainability. The event brought together experts from research, industry, and policy to explore how CO₂ valorisation can drive industrial decarbonisation and strengthen Europe’s sustainable competitiveness.
Representing VIVALDI at the symposium was the project’s coordinator, Albert Guisasola Canudas, who contributed valuable insights into how biotechnological routes can transform industrial CO₂ emissions into sustainable, bio-based building blocks. His perspective added to a rich programme of presentations highlighting the latest developments in Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU), including technical breakthroughs, industrial applications, and pathways to accelerate market uptake.
The symposium, organised by PNO Innovation as part of the THREADING-CO₂ initiative, served as a key moment for cross-project exchange. Alongside VIVALDI, several other EU-funded projects shared their progress and real-world experiences, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in scaling up CCU solutions across Europe.
For VIVALDI, the event provided an opportunity to showcase its work on converting CO₂ into high-value organic acids using microbial fermentation powered by renewable energy, demonstrating a concrete example of how carbon can be recycled rather than released. The discussions at ECOMONDO further highlighted the relevance of such technologies in building a circular carbon economy and supporting Europe’s long-term climate and industrial ambitions.
The VIVALDI team extends its thanks to the THREADING-CO₂ consortium for hosting an inspiring and forward-looking symposium!
