VIVALDI featured in international seminar at The University of Queensland

On 13 March 2026, VIVALDI research was presented by Dr Juan Antonio Baeza (Full Professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) at the Australian Centre for Water and Environmental Biotechnology (ACWEB), University of Queensland (UQ), Australia.

The seminar, “From linear wastewater treatment to circular, low-carbon water-energy-materials processes”, showcased innovative approaches to transforming wastewater treatment into a more sustainable and resource-efficient system.

VIVALDI was highlighted for its contributions to resource recovery and carbon valorisation, including bioelectrochemical ammonium recovery, CO₂ electroreduction to formic acid, and bioproduction using Komagataella phaffii for 3-hydroxypropionic acid (3-HP).

Although the project concluded in May 2025, its inclusion in this international event underlines the continued relevance and impact of VIVALDI’s results in advancing circular, low-carbon solutions for the water sector.
