VIVALDI policy recommendations shared at the Materials for Sustainable Development Conference
On 12-15 November 2024, Tudy Bernier, Policy Director at CO2 Value Europe and a partner in the VIVALDI project, was invited to speak at the Materials for Sustainable Development Conference (MATSUS Fall 2024)!
The conference, hosted by École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), organized diverse sessions on technologies for future materials. One of the highlights was a two-day session on “Advances in (Photo)Electrochemical CO2 Conversion to Chemicals and Fuels”, where researchers from universities, RTOs, and innovative companies showcased their work on CO2 reduction.
In this session, Tudy presented policy recommendations from the VIVALDI project to support the adoption of alternative carbon feedstock and to help Europe transition away from fossil fuels.
His key points included:
- Rewarding the reuse of captured carbon to encourage circular approaches.
- Simplifying approvals for innovative technologies to facilitate their deployment.
- Boosting demand for sustainable products to support market uptake.
We thank Adriano Sacco from Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia for the kind invitation to join this important discussion.
This engagement highlights VIVALDI’s ongoing efforts to combine research insights with policy recommendations to drive progress in the sustainable use of carbon.
