VIVALDI selected as EU Success Story for the launch of the EU Bioeconomy Strategy

We’re proud to share that VIVALDI has been selected by the European Commission as an official EU Success Story, featured alongside the launch of the new EU Bioeconomy Strategy!

The Bioeconomy Strategy aims to accelerate the use of renewable biological resources in food, materials, and energy, helping Europe meet climate and energy goals, drive innovation, and build sustainable, circular value chains. VIVALDI is proud to support this vision by turning carbon emissions from bio-based industries into renewable, high-value products.

Innovation at the Core - A Fully Circular Approach:
Through collaboration with 16 partners across Europe, VIVALDI converts CO₂ into four high-value organic acids through a hybrid electrochemical–biotechnological process. CO₂ is first turned into formic acid and methanol, which engineered yeasts convert into acids for bio-based plastics, coatings, and packaging. With a nutrient-recycling bioelectrochemical system, the process is fully circular, turning CO₂ into a valuable raw material and enabling new bio-based value chains—from advanced bioplastics to sustainable animal feed.
